Guitar tablatures for Eight More Miles to Louisville
Grandpa Jones
Recomended level: Intermediate
This tune was penned by Grandpa Jones and has been further popularized by players like Sam Bush. Start by getting familiar with the melody. Doing this first when learning a new tune will familiarize you with the important notes and chord changes. It really prepares you for playing more complex versions. The melody is for the verse, because that is the section that you will take solos on. After getting that down and trying a few licks, check out the Bluegrass version. This one adds "lead in" notes, more complex picking patterns and the licks are a big step up as well. You can use the difficulty slider on this song or even the melody to simplify it if you need that. Don't feel ashamed about it. Simple, slow and strong is always better than complex, too fast and sloppy!
If you are an intermediate or advanced player and looking for a challenge, then check out the Sam Bush Style version. This one is modeled after the playing of the mandolin master himself. There's a few licks to check out as well for more variety.
